D.C. day 6-National Cathedral-Library of Congress

Today Jennie, Andrea, Cheryl and I took the car up to the National Cathedral.  When we lived here I took my first communion and remember how amazing the place was but still seeing it again was breathtaking!  I love stained glass,  I think it is something about the light and color.  We walked around the building and it was just amazing to see all the different chapels inside of the main church.  I like to light a candle in memory of those that I have loved and lost.  My favorite chapel was the children's one.  It was so cute and innocent!   Here are a few pictures of various stained glass art and more.  We found the 7th floor elevator and went up to see some amazing views, I worked up the courage to go.  The netting you see is because of the earthquake damage they had about a year ago.  Several things were damaged and they are trying to build it back up.  The picture of the red circle stained glass has a special treat!  That is a piece of the moon brought back from a space mission!

Oh I should point out that this morning was very windy and even a bit cold!  We had to hold on to Jennie to get her in the building!   I did get in a good photo bomb:)

Next up was the Library of Congress.  This place was so big and cool.  I would have liked to explore it more, it will be on my list to come back to for sure!   I wasn't able to hear our guide but I didn't need to to experience all that art and the books!

This is a picture heavy post!  Here are pictures from the Library

  1. What a special memory for you to revisit live! Is it sad that I want to visit it because of a scene in the West Wing? : )

    Beautiful pictures again!
