I am way behind on blog posts. I am guessing that the trip caught up with me in terms of being tired and not using the computer late at night. I am going to try and post a few tonight, since we have been doing a lot of sightseeing by car today. So this is my reflection on the rest of our NYC trip.
We ended up seeing 4 Broadway muscials. Book of Mormon, Annie, Once, and Rock of Ages. If I had to rank them it would be Book of Mormon, Annie, Rock of Ages, and Once. They were four completely different musicals. I loved the music of Once, but did not like the ending. Rock of Ages was simply fun! Annie will always be one of my favorites and Book of Mormon was just so well done. We saw a lot of things, and missed a lot of things. No way to see it all though. We did what we could do. A trip around the city at dark, a cruise around the Statue of Liberty, and Empire State building.
The 9/11 memorial was touching, powerful, and well done. It still makes me sad to think about that day that we lost all those people, and people that are trained to go in when most would run away that lost their lives, how do we ever repay them? We can't. But we can do all we can to promote peace and be kind to each other. Lyrics to NYC from Annie that I thought was appropriate. I miss this city...not enough to live here again, but I do miss it and the first part says. "I go years without you, then I Can't get Enough".
What is it about you
You're big
You're loud
You're tough NYC
I go years without you
Then I
Can't get
Enough
Enough of the cab drivers answering back
In the language far from pure
Enough of frankfurters answering back
Brother, you know you're in NYC
Too busy
Too crazy
Too hot
Too cold
Too late
I'm sold
Again
On NYC
The shadows at sundown
The roofs
That scrape
The sky
NYC
The rich and the rundown
The parade
Goes by
That other town has the Empire State
And a mayor five foot two
No other town in
The whole forty eight
Can half compare
To you
Oh NYC
You make 'em all postcards
You crowd
You cramp
You're still
The champ
Amen For NYC (NYC)
The shimmer of Times Square
The pulse
The beat
The drive! (NYC)
The city's bright
As a penny arcade
It blinks, it tilts, it rings
To think that I've lived here all of my life
And never seen these things
Oh, NYC
The whole world keeps coming
By bus
By train
You can't
Explain
Their yen
For
NYC
Just got here this morning
Three bucks
Two bags
One me
NYC
I give you fair warning
Up there
In lights
I'll be
Go ask the Gershwins or Kaufman and Hart
The place they love the best
Though California pays big for their art
Their fan mail comes addressed to NYC
Tomorrow a penthouse
That's way up high
Tonight
The "Y"
Why not
It's NYC
NYC
You're standing room only
You crowd
You cramp
You're still
The champ
Amen For NY
Give in
Don't fight
Good girl
Good night
Sleep tight
In NYC
