D.C. day 2(eve) and day 3

Well yesterday was interesting in terms of weather.  First Cheryl got a tornado watch, then several flash flood ones.  We ended up with the flash flood situation, in the house!   The rain was coming down hard and fast and it caused the house we are renting to leak at the front door, closet, light, and entry way.  We notified the owner and he asked us to help him best we could to prevent damage.  So Sophia did a fair amount of running up and down the stairs to get towels.  Bless her!   I do not think I mentioned that Troy and Cathy got a ticket for parking behind the house and the owner is going to do his best to fix that for us in exchange for protecting his home from damage.  Hopefully he will be able to do that!

Tonight I was watching the news and they showed pictures of a house destroyed, it didn't take Cheryl or I very long to figure out it was tornado damage.  Watching them talk about it was funny, they kept saying that they thought it was but maybe it was straight line winds.  Then talking about the trees and a few other things, lets just say we are very fortunate in Oklahoma to have excellent weather persons:)

Ok, now on to today!  Today we started out with a walk to the metro to get up to the Navy Memorial it was very nice.  Then we walked up to view the Portrait Museum, but it was closed.  So we wandered through the Spy store, some funny stuff in there!   Then we made our way to Ford Theater and listened to the Ranger talk about the events of that night.  Very cool experience and they did a great job explaining it.  We then walked to the Old Post Office and ate.  After that, Sophia and I went for Ben and Jerry Ice Cream and the rest of the gang went to the top of the tower.  I am a chicken and did not go.

We walked from there to the American History Smithsonian and took in a bit of the sites there, by this time Jennie, Cheryl and I were starting to get really tired of walking and decided we were done for the day.  So we ... well I attempted to get a cab using my Iphone and it was a pretty epic fail!   I put in a request and booked two cabs, both arrived, and left without us!!   So finally I saw an empty one and he took us back to the house, giving us important information in the process that will help us secure a cab in the future using the app on the phone.  We tipped him well for getting us home!

Now for pictures.  This must have been an off day for me because I only took 40 pictures!!!!!!!!   Very rare for me.
